All these changes are based on the high-tech electronic and computer technology, making the technological process more straightforward, manufacturing processes simpler, production cycle much shorter, labor force and economic cost reduced, control of quality more precise and achieving good combination of visual texture effects.
I. Print Media
   In graphic printing manufacturing, a good choice of print media is of great importance. The printing effects and end products can be influenced by the printing methods and the print media. A basic knowledge of print media is necessary.
    There are a variety of print media, of which the most commonly used are paper and cardboard. The second most used are cloth and fibrous material, plastic sheet (photographic film), metal skin and various surfaces of household electronic appliances. 
    So far, the print media are mainly paper. Different paper has different uses. Among the various paper, there is high-grade color printing, also called “coated paper” or “art printing paper”. The coated paper is chemical coated paper after pressure drum, with the surface extremely smooth and shiny and thus it is generally called “glazed coated paper”.
After extra processing, the surface of glazed coated paper can be extremely smooth but without luster. It then is called “Matt coated paper” and can be applied in fine dots color printing.
The categories of the paper are generally like the following: (1) paper; (2) weight; (3) dimensions; (4) purposes. The paper is often named after its uses. Except coated paper, there is woodfree paper, mechanical printing paper, newsprint, paperboard, book cover paper, special goffered paper (like Conqueror Paper from UK). The weight of paper depends on its purpose, ranging from the thinnest onion paper (45gsm) to thick cardboard (300gsm). In general, a sheet-fed in color printing weighs 128gsm or 157gsm, black-and-white printing 80gsm to 128gsm, writing paper 70gsm to 120 gsm, an envelop 100gsm to 160 gsm and a business card 160gsm to 250 gsm. The paper used to print book is usually a bit lighter than that of a leaflet. 
Paper selection has an effect on the printing methods, ink and postpress finishing, including the cost of delivering the printing products.

II. Presswork Dimension
The printing format and thickness of the end products can directly affect appearance, manufacturing process and production. If a large number need to be printed, the paper should be almost the same as the size of the end products, thus avoiding the waste and additional procession.
